The parties to a lawsuit are almost always better than a judge or jury at shaping a reasonable resolution of a dispute.  Total strangers with limited time, limited interest and little incentive to unravel a complicated and disputed set of facts rarely reach a conclusion that makes as much sense as one that a plaintiff and defendant could fashion for themselves.

PROFILE

â€‹For over three decades, Phillip Sharp served as lead counsel in jury trials ranging from catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims to workplace discrimination and retaliation suits to breach of contract and fraud cases to breach of fiduciary duty lawsuits and oil and gas lease disputes.  He has represented exploration and production companies, pipelines, refiners, manufacturers, forest products companies, employers, trustees, retailers and transportation companies.

In 1999, he was lead defense counsel in a payroll fraud class action case that resulted in a take-nothing judgment on the merits after class certification was granted, meaning the claims of all class members were dismissed with prejudice.  In 1995, he wrote the first Daubert challenge striking an expert witness granted in Harris County.  He has successfully defended industrial companies in environmental pollution and workplace exposure cases, and he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in traumatic brain injury cases.

His experience in the courtroom underpins the service he provides as a mediator of complicated, high stakes disputes.

Phillip has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1996 and was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2008 and to membership in Phi Beta Kappa in 1979.

Phillip completed mediation training at the University of Houston in 2013 and served as a mediator while maintaining a full trial docket for over 10 years.

Phillip Sharp was born in Crossett, Arkansas, and grew up in rural East Texas, where he still maintains a home.
